Description

Bucky Dent, bear 164, was first seen at Brooks as a 2.5 year old sub adult in 2019.  He can be identified by the small indention between his eyes. He is famous for being in the plunge pool and looking up below the falls to fish and waiting for them to fall back down.  He is also known as shower bear due to this fishing technique.

747 was first identified in 2004 as a subadult and is one of the largest and heaviest bear to use the Brooks River.  He has been fat bear winner in both 2020 and 2022.  He has a medium-brown coat with reddish shoulders although early in the summer, his fur regularly sheds out in a erratic pattern and he often has a noticeable shed patch on his forehead. During the fall months, his fur is dark brown and his ears are round and peg-like, His face has a prominent brow ridge and he has dark claws, a short but blocky muzzle, and a large, stocky, and squat body.  747 is estimated to weigh over 1400 lbs.
